Starting October 5, 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE, formerly Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education) is holding its 2026 periodic health check-up program for full-time students. The program gives students the opportunity to check and monitor their health during their studies, while encouraging them to take an active role in caring for their health and maintaining the physical and mental well-being needed to study and train effectively at the University.
Organized by the University’s Health Care Office, the program takes place at the HCM-UTE Maker Space in three rounds from October 5 to October 24, 2026, serving about 1,000 students per day. Running the program in several rounds allows the University to accommodate a large number of students and lets students choose time slots that fit their class schedules, so they can complete the full check-up without disrupting their studies and other activities at the University.
During the program, students undergo a range of examinations, from physical and clinical checks to necessary laboratory tests. These include a review of medical history; measurements of height, weight and body mass index (BMI); checks of vital signs; examinations in internal medicine, surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology, ear, nose and throat (ENT), and dentistry and maxillofacial health, as well as obstetrics and gynecology for female students; blood and urine tests; and counseling on disease prevention. Through the check-up, students gain more information about their own health, a clearer understanding of basic health indicators and issues that need attention, and a basis for adjusting their daily habits and taking better care of their health.
In addition to the in-person examinations, students’ results are updated to and linked with the Ministry of Health’s personal health database and electronic health records. This makes it easier for students to store and track their health information and gives them a basis for paying closer attention to their health throughout their studies. Together with counseling on disease prevention, the program helps students raise their awareness of health care, promptly note issues that need monitoring, and build the habit of protecting their health proactively rather than only when unusual symptoms appear.
Holding periodic health check-ups on this scale reflects HCM-UTE’s continued attention to the physical health and well-being of its students. Alongside teaching, scientific research and skills development, the University focuses on practical care and support activities that help students monitor their health and study and train with peace of mind. Through the program, HCM-UTE continues working toward a learner-centered educational environment in which students receive comprehensive care and support throughout their time at the University.
About the University’s Name Change: On December 26, 2025, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Decision No. 2809/QĐ-TTg, officially renaming Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE). The new name reflects the University’s multidisciplinary development strategy, its strengths in technology and engineering, and its current institutional stature. Before 2007, the University was Vietnam’s leading institution for technical teacher education. Following changes to the national higher education program classification system in 2007, the University expanded its focus to technology, engineering, and related disciplines. The name change aligns with Vietnam’s Higher Education Network Development Plan for 2021-2030 with a vision toward 2050, addresses the demand for high-quality human resources in the digital transformation era, and reaffirms HCM-UTE’s role as a national key university in technology and engineering. |
