On the morning of October 3, 2026, the Green Future 2026 Conference took place at the Grand Hall, Block A, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE, formerly Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education), under the theme “Training and Research on Green Vehicles, New Energy Vehicles (Electric, Hybrid, Hydrogen), and Autonomous and Smart Vehicles in Vietnam: Current Status, Challenges, and Solutions for Cooperation, Education and Training.” The conference was co-organized by HCM-UTE, the Ho Chi Minh City Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE Vietnam – Ho Chi Minh City), Thang Loi Technology Co., Ltd., Beifang Automotive Education Group and LD Didactic Group.

Before the conference sessions, delegates toured the Engine Workshop of the Faculty of Energy Engineering and Transport at HCM-UTE. There, the organizers introduced a range of modern training models and solutions currently in use, including training equipment researched and developed in-house by the Faculty, a BYD electric vehicle model, and advanced training systems from Beifang Automotive Education Group, Aisin Vietnam, Würth Vietnam and Ascom.

Attending the conference on behalf of HCM-UTE were Dr. Nguyen Van Long Giang, Dean of the Faculty of Energy Engineering and Transport; Dr. Huynh Phuoc Son, Director of the Office of Enterprise Relations; and faculty members and staff of the Faculty of Energy Engineering and Transport.
Representing the co-organizers were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Van Dung, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Society of Automotive Engineers; Mr. Nguyen Thien Khiem, Director of Thang Loi Technology Co., Ltd.; Ms. Han Lili, Director of the International Trade Department, Beifang Automotive Education Group (China); and Mr. Steffen Lischke, Representative of LD Didactic Group (Germany).
The event also brought together representatives of universities and colleges across Vietnam, as well as experts, scientists, representatives of automotive enterprises, and members of the press, radio, television and other media outlets.
In the opening remarks, Dr. Nguyen Van Long Giang, Dean of the Faculty of Energy Engineering and Transport, emphasized that the world is entering a period of strong growth in green transportation, clean energy and digital transformation. Electric, hybrid and hydrogen vehicles, artificial intelligence and autonomous vehicles are gradually reshaping the automotive industry and the transportation sector as a whole. To master these technologies, however, the decisive factor remains high-quality human resources, which presents both a challenge and a major opportunity for training institutions, businesses and society. The Green Future 2026 Conference was therefore organized to serve as a forum connecting universities, scientists, businesses, professional associations and learners. Dr. Nguyen Van Long Giang also expressed the hope that participants would exchange views on emerging technology trends, share experience in training and research, and strengthen cooperation to develop human resources that meet the needs of the automotive technology sector during the green transition.

The keynote session opened with the presentation “Green Automobiles and Smart Vehicles – An Inevitable Trend and Its Requirements for Human Resources” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Van Dung, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Society of Automotive Engineers. The presentation offered an overview of development trends in the automotive industry and the new requirements for workforce training in the era of digital and green transformation.

This was followed by the presentation “Practical Training and Research on Green Automobiles and Smart Vehicles at HCM-UTE” by Dr. Le Thanh Phuc, Head of the Department of Smart Vehicles and Transportation, Faculty of Energy Engineering and Transport, HCM-UTE.

At the plenary session on international training solutions for green automobiles and smart vehicles, speakers analyzed development directions for green technology, provided updates on the latest global trends, and discussed international cooperation strategies to improve the quality of automotive workforce training in Vietnam.

The program continued with a panel discussion moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Van Dung on the theme “Improving the Quality of Practical Training in Green Automobiles and Smart Vehicles in Vietnam – Cooperation among Universities, Enterprises and International Partners”. The discussion gave experts, administrators, businesses and training institutions the opportunity to exchange views and analyze the opportunities, challenges and directions for cooperation in developing high-quality human resources in the coming period.

The Green Future 2026 Conference concluded successfully with practical directions for strengthening cooperation among the University, businesses and international partners in training and research on green and smart vehicles. The event also clearly demonstrated Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering’s commitment to expanding cooperation in training and research and to linking its programs with industry practice in the context of digital transformation.
About the University’s Name Change: On December 26, 2025, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Decision No. 2809/QĐ-TTg, officially renaming Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE). The new name reflects the University’s multidisciplinary development strategy, its strengths in technology and engineering, and its current institutional stature. Before 2007, the University was Vietnam’s leading institution for technical teacher education. Following changes to the national higher education program classification system in 2007, the University expanded its focus to technology, engineering, and related disciplines. The name change aligns with Vietnam’s Higher Education Network Development Plan for 2021-2030 with a vision toward 2050, addresses the demand for high-quality human resources in the digital transformation era, and reaffirms HCM-UTE’s role as a national key university in technology and engineering. |
